Around 40 minutes drive north of Zhongshan is the county’s famous water village. Providing you don’t raise the bar of your expectations to an unrealistic level, it’s well worth a visit. Motorized skiffs take visitors on a tour of waterways lined with rustic homes that have traditionally relied on the water for transportation. The houses are, however, spread out quite thinly, and the trip is memorable mostly for what it is – an hour on the water in a boat.
