The quiet, relatively unknown city of Enping in Jiangmen is China’s largest manufacturer of the world’s mouthpiece: the microphone.
Enping is home to 310 microphone manufacturing companies, whose products are sold in more than half of China and exported to foreign markets, the Jiangmen Daily reported.
These companies generated a total output value of 1.503 billion yuan (US$190 million) during the first half of this year. The first eight months of this year saw them export products worth US$26.55 million, up 30 per cent year on year.
The China Machines and Electronic Products Imports & Exports Chamber of Commerce has certified Enping as the country’s most important microphone manufacturer, the report said.
