Two 50,000-ton container ports are being built at the Gaolan Port in Zhuhai, and they will be the city’s first container ports, the Zhuhai Daily reported.
A joint venture between a Zhuhai company and the Hutchison Whampoa, the two ports cover an area of 57 hectares and coastline of 824 meters. Their designed capacity is 800,000 TEUs annually. The report said the first port would be put in operation in 2008, while the second would come into operation the following year.
