The Shenzhen Municipal Federation of Trade Unions has taken aim at one of Shenzhen's biggest employers, Taiwanese-owned Fujicom. On the last day of 2006, the institution started recruiting members from Fujicom employees in Longhua, Shenzhen, the Southern Metropolis Daily reports.
Fujicom is the biggest Taiwanese company in Shenzhen, with more than 200,000 employees in Longhua district alone. Establishing a trade union in Fujicom was included in the 2006 working scheme of Shenzhen Municipal
Federation of Trade Unions.
A total of 118 staff signed up and became members of the federation. An official was quoted as saying the Fujicom trade union has been officially founded, since they already have a quorum.
