Qingping MarketWith more than 2,000 stalls along a 1-km stretch of Qingping Lu and Tiyun Lu, Qingping Market is a unique experience, to say the least. This used to be the place to find anteaters, cats, chickens, dogs, rabbits, turtles and other types of animals for sale – but not as pets. Its worst excesses have been toned down since the SARS outbreak in 2003, but there are still quite a few people around selling tiger paws and bear claws – and many buyers looking for such sought-after items. That’s only part of the market, however, so don’t be put off the entire collection. You’ll also find Chinese medicine, jade and antiques at stalls and antique shops along nearby Daihe Lu.
