White Swan Hotel, Guangzhou

The White Swan is a legend in China. Situated on historic Shamian Island, site of the international trading houses in the 19th century, it was the first international hotel to open after the “reform and opening” policy began in 1979.
The hotel has a very relaxing atmosphere, with birds chirping in cages around the lobby lounge, and sweeping views of the Pearl River. Outside is a pleasant walking area, where you can stroll among the city’s pre-revolutionary history and look at some of the most beautiful colonial-era architecture in China. The Jade restaurant is a classic, often voted the best restaurant in Guangzhou by guides, with lovely stained-glass windows letting in the sunshine during the day. Also highly recommended is the Provincial Restaurant, with dishes from Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing. Facilities include conference rooms, business center, health club and spa, swimming pool, squash courts, indoor and outdoor tennis, golf driving range, shopping arcade, and beauty salon.
