Zhongying Street in Shatoujiao

The eight boundary stones running down the middle of Zhongying Street in Shatoujiao Township, Yantian District, are a historic site under provincial protection. They are still, practically speaking, the boundary between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. You need a special permit to go in and out of the Hong Kong side, but while here, you can cross the road as many times as you like without getting your passport stamped. The stones officially “bear witness to the occupation of Chinese territory by British colonists following the Opium War”, according to the city government’s information website.
